LIFE and Danida sign contract for three centres in the field of development cooperation - 26.02.2008
A 3-year contract has been concluded between the Faculty of Life Sciences (LIFE) and Danida/The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The contract covers Danida-funded development cooperation activities at three centres at LIFE: The Centre for Forest, Landscape and Planning; Danish Seed Health Centre for Developing Countries (DSHC); and DBL Centre for Health Research and Development (DBL). DSHC forms part of Department of Plant Biology, while DBL forms part of the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology.
Although the centres work with different aspects of development - forests, trees and landscape planning, seed health and seed pathology and human health, the overall objective of their activities is to contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development.
The work at the centres represents an important contribution to the creation of new knowledge, capacity building in development countries and knowledge management in the areas in question. The LIFE centres work in close cooperation with organisations and networks in their cooperation countries in the South, and are also important players internationally.
The total value of the contract is DKK 89 million.
