Danish-Russian Research and Education Cooperation - 29.04.2010

In connection with the official Russian state visit to Denmark on 28 April, Rector Ralf Hemmingsen signed an exchange agreement between the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and the Russian university Kuban State Agrarian University in Krasnodar.

The agreement focuses on research, education and demonstration of the production of food products, bioenergy and biomaterials. The agreement contributes to support future sustainable farming. The purpose of the agreement is to match the already existing and future needs to increase food production with the need for sustainable resources such as bioenergy and tree.

"Today there is an increasing demand for better food quality and products produced with consideration to animal welfare and ecology. In addition, the production of food and bioenergy must be profitable for the farmers and secure welfare and investments in the future production. With this agreement, we wish to comply with all these demands through education, research and sharing know-how on production systems and technology", says Dean at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Per Holten-Andersen.
