FAQ
Here you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about studying abroad:
1. What should I do if I would like to study abroad?
Read the Studying abroad pages carefully and contact Student Services in “Vandrehallen” at Thorvaldsenvej, if you have any further questions.
2. When should I apply?
Europe: By 1 March you can apply for the following autumn term, and by 28 September you can apply for the following spring term.
Overseas: The deadline is 28 September for the following academic year (e.g. 28 September 2009 for the 2010/2011 academic year).
IMPORTANT: If you are planning to initiate your studies abroad in January, it is crucial that you contact the persons responsible for the courses you follow in block 2 to discuss your exams. It is not likely that you will be able to take them while you are abroad, so you need to arrange extraordinary exams, e.g. oral exams or exams after your studies abroad. You need an approval from the Study Board to arrange such exams.
3. How long can I be away for?
If you want to study at one of the Faculty of Life Sciences’ partner universities, you must be away for at least 3 months and for a maximum of 12 months. Students often go abroad for one term.
4. How many courses must I attend during each term?
The number of courses per term must correspond to full time studies - that is 30 ECTS points. Many European universities use the ECTS system. Universities overseas use different point systems and you can get advice on how to convert these from the Secretariat for Internationalisation.

Go to the website of the university of your choice. Lists of courses can be found under departments or faculties or under menu items like “Programmes” or “Exchange students” – see what you can find!
6. Who can help me find courses?
Unfortunately no one can know by heart the website of each of our 150 partner universities but you can have a look at previous exchange student's evaluation forms which you find in Student Services to see what courses other students of the same study field as you have had. If you are not able to find the course on their website, please contact either Student Services or the Secretariat forInternationalisation.
7. How do I obtain pre-approval of my courses?
Fill in the form “pre-approval of courses". Please note that you must choose courses which correspond to your level of studies at the time of your departure (BSc or MSc).

However, not all partner universities require the TOEFL test, so if you are not sure consult the Secretatiat for Internationalisation.
