Student Testimonials

Fieldtrip Iceland

Student testimonials are an opportunity for students to share experiences with fellow students enrolled at the same or a different programme at KU.

Reading student testimonials can be beneficial in terms of both serving as inspirational as to where to go, how to prepare yourself, as well as being an excellent opportunity for students to share knowledge about academic, social and cultural differences.

If you would like to know where other students have studied abroad, student testimonials in Danish are available at KU's website.

If you would like to study a particular student report in detail, you should visit the Student Services office, where you can pick up student reports by LIFE students who has studied abroad.

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about a Dendrochronology Field week – Forest Growth & sustainability course, Finland

”It was an excellent, intense and highly educational course. There were ten researchers on the course ready to explain and teach you everything about dendrochronology.”

“Ask questions, be open, and trust yourself. Everything will be fine! Things can go wrong, but there’s always going to be people that can help you, no matter what might need help for, - from course information, where to go grocery shopping, which buses to take, insurance questions etc.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about her semester at Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg, Germany

”Take the German course - speak German with people – and prioritise grammar as people tend to be more helpful if you do. Danes are often praised for their good pronunciation so fire away, and simply “Germanise” your Danish if you are in doubt about a word. They will understand you quite often as it is common that the Danish word is an older version of the word they would normally use.”

”Language is absolutely crucial. I would definitely recommend participating in language courses before and during a study abroad period. You will also meet other foreigners with whom it is certainly easier to develop a relationship with through such courses. They are in the same boat, and it can be surprising how easy it is to hang out with a Columbian based upon your shared amazement at your lousy German.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about her semester at Wageningen University, Holland

”I came home from Wageningen with a lot of good experiences, new friends from all around the world, knowledge I could not have gained back home and a desire to spice up my education further. I can warmly recommend a study abroad period in Wageningen to others.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at Cornell University, USA

The University does a lot to make sure the exchange students meet each other so making friends was certainly not a problem. My English skills have improved considerably and I feel that my education has benefited from new perspectives as well as my renewed motivation to continue studying.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at Cornell University, USA

“I have almost only good things to say about the teaching I experienced at Cornell. The best courses I have taken during my time at University have without a doubt been at Cornell. Due to the excellent reputation of the University, it is able to draw upon an impressive range of resources in almost all areas. It was also my impression that the university does as much as possible to make teaching as interesting and relevant as possible.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at Cornell University, USA

“Registering for courses is very easy and you can choose subjects from a variety of different academic disciplines. I can highly recommend choosing as many courses as possible at the start of the semester and afterwards establishing which ones you want to continue with”.

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at North Carolina University, USA

“It has become far easier to be a new international student in North Carolina and people will always greet you with a smile. My study abroad period has contributed to my independence and my English skills have improved, in both an academic and non-academic context. It was exciting to gain an insight into American culture and to experience a different way of life to what I am used to here at home. I have had some great experiences which I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about her semester at Mcgill University, Canada

“The academic level is very similar to that in Denmark. I took biology courses at the university and found them to be interesting and highly educational.”

”Generally speaking the academic staff is very friendly and helpful. If one has questions regarding an assignment or that kind of thing then they reply quickly to your e-mails. Otherwise one is always welcome to speak with them in their offices.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at the University of British Columbia, Canada

“Studying abroad as an exchange student has been an utterly fantastic experience. It has, in many different ways, provided me with new input to my studies and also in to different ways of studying as the teaching methods was rather different to those used here in Denmark. That did of course mean that it was first towards the end of the semester that I felt like I had properly adjusted to my new setting. As such, if it is possible then it is highly likely that it would be advantageous to study abroad for a whole year, rather than just one semester.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester in Australia

"It has been a once in a lifetime experience that i can only deeply recommend to other students. It has definitely been my best semester so far!"

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at Lincoln University, New Zealand

”Appreciate small and quirky experiences. Go with the flow as it will often lead to bigger, new and unexpected experiences.”

Student from the Faculty of Life Sciences about his semester at Lincoln University, New Zealand

“The place is unbeatable in terms of both the human and natural experiences that can be enjoyed there. Despite the fact that it is relatively small and uninhabited, the country offers pretty much everything from skiing, to desert and rainforest.”
