Biotechnology is one of the seven core competences of LIFE- Faculty of Life Sciences.
At LIFE, it is possible to study for an MSc in Biology-Biotechnology. The English-language MSc programme has a duration of two years and will allow you to work with biotechnology problems across traditional boundaries.
Also, our BSc programmes include BSc in Biology-biotechnology (in Danish) which will give you a basic understanding of the biochemistry, genetics and physiology of plants, animals and microorganisms.
Biotechnology is an integrated part of the veterinary, food and natural resource research carried out at LIFE.
In the fields of animal and veterinary medicine, LIFE can boast an outstanding research environment where genetic experts together with pathologists study hereditary diseases in domestic animals. This takes place at Department of Basic Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
In the field of cell biology, LIFE houses excellent research into embryos and embryonic stem cells.
LIFE’s plant biotechnology group is among the world’s leading research groups. The group works with basic research related to cell wall biology, naturally occuring substances, photosynthesis, etc. This systems biology approach is unique. Research into plant biotechnology is carried out at Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology and Department of Agriculture and Ecology.
In the research project bio4bio at Forest & Landscape we develop new biotechnology methods that will allow us to derive bio-fuel from agricultural waste.
In the area of food, biotechnology is essential in, for instance, food microbiology and nutrition (nutrigenomics). Research into food and nutrition is carried out at Department of Human Nutrition and Department of Food Science.
In our (Danish) expert database you will be able to find researchers who are experts in biotechnology ('bioteknologi'). You can also find experts in biotechnology and animals (Bioteknologi og husdyr) and Biotechnolgy and plants (Bioteknologi og planter).
