6. What are your considerations in relation to collaborating with stakeholders such as companies, authorities or others that may have a particular interest in this specific elite research area?
Elite research area: Plant biotechnology
Poul Erik Jensen, professor and anchorperson for the elite research area:
“Several of the elite research area’s researchers are actively involved in starting up businesses, e.g. Pcovery, which was co-founded by Professor Michael Palmgren. Pcovery is a spin-off of the PUMPKIN basic research centre.
We also have close relations with Evolva via Birger Lindberg Møller’s groundbreaking work on, among other things, glocosyltranferases. In the slightly longer term, we see several opportunities for collaborating with several Danish biotech players such as Novozymes, Danisco etc.”
Biomass development in collaboration with DONG and Inbicon
“We are also in contact with DONG and Inbicon on biomass development with changed qualities for biofuels and bio-refining. We also hope that our research will lead to developing methods that can be used for refining new and improved grain varieties from our crops.”
